Episode #121: Relationships and Gordy

Brick Room guest Gordy is back for this episode as we mostly talk about relationships.  Marc just got married and we talk about married life, single life, and relationships in general.  We also wonder, how long is it acceptable for a couple to refer to themselves as “Newlyweds”?

Previous to all this relationship talk we open up the podcast talking about Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix.  The world of video entertainment is changing all the time and we discuss the interesting content these services are bringing to the table and how they are affecting the TV business.  We also discuss commercials and what happens to actors that hit it big as a commercial spokesman.

Finally, we finish up the podcast with a round of “What if?”, which is probably Gordy’s favorite game.

Grab your beer, listen in, and play a little What if? with us.

Episode #120: Doctors

In today’s episode we talk about doctors and dentists and they way they talk.  They all seem to have a similar pattern to their speech and they use words and phrases that many other people, even professional people, do not use.  We’re not talking here about medical terminology, although they love to throw those weighty multisyllabic technical terms around too.  No, we’re talking about phrases designed to either set you at ease or to demonstrate their expertise.

We also talk about arts and crafts and the Latin language.  Thanks for listening, here’s this week’s episode:

Episode 119 – Lando’s Cape

Who’s the smoothest in the Galaxy? Lando. Obviously.

We talk Star Wars again in this podcast, starting with Marc’s cosplay plans to how much we just want to follow Lando around.

Also, I guess we’re #DonaldForLando now…

We also discuss the trend of remaking/rebooting movies including Ben Hur, a movie that has been remade into oblivion…

We also cover the all important question as to ‘Why?’… Why all of the remakes and what should never be remade (Star Wars) and what should be remade. We go over a few movies that could another pass over and be remade…

Also, disaster movies are almost immune to remakes…unless you’re Backdraft…

Did we miss anything? Let us know what you think! If you don’t think Donald Glover would make a good young Lando, let us know how it feels to be wrong about everything in your life…

Thanks for listening!

Episode 117 – Video Game Fight Night

Hey all! This week’s podcast is about competitive video game tournaments. Specifically EVO 2016.

We didn’t know it was a thing, but now we do. Listen to us observe the final few fights of the night as we root for people we know nothing about!

So, naturally, we try to find ways to perfect it and we judge it against other things that are called sports but maybe shouldn’t be (we’re looking at you, poker!) and talk about the future of e-sports as a legitimate sport. Or is it already?… We don’t know!

Let us know what you think, who you wanted to win and what your favorite e-sport is!

Episode 116 BondyMon Go!

We’re back! Hey guys, now that we’re back we decided to tackle a very important, socially heavy subject. Pokemon Go.  We recorded this on a Sunday a week and a half from the release of the Poke-Craze sweeping the world. We may not be the most knowledgeable about Pokemon but we’re pretty knowledgeable about a lot of other things…

We cover how the future of business in regards to Pokemon Go’s GPS shenanigans, the fall out to people using the game while not paying attention and the potential for the future of gaming itself…

Also, we made some Comic Con 2016 predictions as well…

Also, when we start talking about the types of people who would use Pokemon Go long-term you can hear a loud mouth dude we’ve never seen at the bar, talk super loud after noticing out gear…

Let us know what you think!

Episode 115: Bracket of Badassery -Final Result!!

Welcome back, Brick Room Listeners.  We hope you had a great 4th of July weekend.  We are back today to finish up the Bracket of Badassery.

How can that be, you ask, since there are 3 match-ups yet to go?  Well, we’re crossing the finish line with strong by doing all three contests in one episode today.

Last week’s guest in the Brick Room, Chris Daily, helped us to determine that Ripley was more badass then Apone, which leaves our bracket looking like this:

Today, we finish up the bracket by deciding the winner between Furiosa and Max as well as Ripley and Vasquez.  Trust me when I say that these match ups were not easy to figure out. Then, we take the final two contestants and determine, once and for all, who is the most badass character ever to appear in an action movie.  The final match was tough to figure out as well but, ultimately, we’re both pretty happy with the result.

Grab your drink and strap yourself in.  The Bracket of Badassery crowns a victor today!

Episode #114: Bracket Of Badassery – Apone vs. Ripley

We delve into the Bracket of Badassery once more to continue our quest to find out who is the most badass character from all of action movies.  This week we have special guest Chris Daily on the podcast to help us sort out the difficult problem of determining who is more badass between Sgt. Apone, from Aliens, and Ellen Ripley, from Aliens.  That’s right, two characters from the same movie are facing off against each other this week!

Last time we did a bracket match up we found out who is more badass between Max, from Mad Max: Fury Road, and Dutch, from Predator.  That was a tough match up but ultimately the victor was Max.  And so, with Max’s victory the Bracket stands like this:

Join us now and listen in as we decide the next match up:  Ellen Ripley vs. Sgt. Apone.  Let the Bracket of Badassery continue in its badassness!
